August 2018 – ONLINE – Special Topics in Spanish: “Spanish Past Tense: Preterite vs Imperfect”

August 8 – August 29, 2018

Online – Wednesday Evening 7:00 – 8:00 PM

Do you struggle with the Spanish past tense? Or maybe you just want to take your present tense Spanish skills to the next level by familiarizing yourself with two common past tenses in Spanish- the preterite and the imperfect.

In this course for all levels of Spanish learners, we will introduce the preterite and the imperfect, learn regular and irregular conjugations, and learn when to use one versus the other in past tense scenarios in Spanish.

Whether you have studied the topic before or not, we will get practice reading, writing, speaking, and listening in Spanish in a supportive group environment over video chat.

How often do you hold class?
Sessions will be once a week for four weeks, on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Week 1- August 8: Regular preterite conjugations
Week 2- August 15: Irregular preterite conjugations
Week 3- August 22: Imperfect regular & irregular conjugations
Week 4- August 29: When to use preterite vs imperfect in past tense scenarios

Please note, students will be asked to complete homework and practice their skills several hours a week outside of class. In between weekly classes, additional lessons and exercises may be sent by email to students to continue their learning. Students will access these exercises through online tools.

Who should take this class?
The class is for all levels, Beginner to Advanced. For beginners the topic may be new; for intermediate and advanced students it would be a more in-depth review of the topic. The instructor will customize activities and homework based on your level of Spanish.
